History is a living thing, part of the present, and all around us. We can enjoy it and learn from it. History has always been a part of my life, and it led me to a wonderful adventure.

When I was about four or five (as near as I can remember), I fell in love with a carving of a spinning wheel on my Mom's cedar chest. When I got married, the chest came to live with me. I still loved the carving, and wondered how the wheel worked. In the early seventies, my wonderful husband, John, gave me a reproduction spinning wheel for my birthday, but I still was no closer to knowing how the wheel worked.

In 1982, I finally found someone to teach me how to spin. The class included a segment, in the last two sessions, on natural dyeing. I could have cared less about the dye part until the the first magic pot produced its wonderful, incredible color. I had John come to the last class so he could see the magic of the dye pot.

My daughter, Aspen, has followed me in my wonderful adventure, and enjoys spinning and knitting.

Please follow the link on the left side of the page to see pictures of the hand-dyed roving I have for sale. As I get more samples online, the "Yarn" link will take to you the hand-dyed yarn page with samples of the yarn and goods, and the "Process" page will illustrate the art of the hand-dyeing. I appreciate your patience as I grow online!
